Driveway resurfacing
For sound 1990s to 2000s slabs showing surface wear.

Penrith LGA · Since 1999
KMA Concrete Constructions pours driveways, house slabs, shed slabs and pathways across Glenmore Park. A master-planned suburb built primarily from the 1990s onward, Glenmore Park is now hitting its renovation wave - original driveways and slabs are 20 to 30 years old. Sloped blocks near the escarpment fringe require drainage channels, correct crossfall and grip-appropriate finishes. KMA is based in Penrith. This is our local area. KMA Concrete Constructions services Glenmore Park for all residential and commercial concreting. Based in Penrith, NSW Lic. 219967c, operating since 1999. Own crew on every job.
Glenmore Park sits on Penrith's southern fringe, bounded by the M4 Motorway to the north and backing toward Mulgoa and Regentville to the south and west. Developed primarily from the 1990s onward, it is a master-planned estate with wide streets, landscaped parks and relatively large residential blocks by Sydney standards.
That development timeline creates a specific concreting situation. The suburb's original concrete - driveways, pathways and shed slabs poured when the estates were first released - is now 20 to 30 years old. This is the age at which surface wear, edge cracking and joint deterioration become consistent. The renovation wave in Glenmore Park is real and running now.
At the same time, Glenmore Park is not flat. The suburb sits on the transition between the flat Cumberland Plain and the rising terrain toward the Blue Mountains escarpment. Streets like Ridgetop Drive and the surrounding elevated portions of the suburb have blocks with meaningful gradient. Concreting on these sloped blocks requires a different approach - drainage channels, calculated crossfall and a finish that provides grip on the grade - compared to what you would specify on a flat Penrith block. A contractor who does not work this terrain regularly will not account for these differences at the quoting stage.
KMA is based in Penrith. We work Glenmore Park as part of our regular local operations, not as an occasional add-on.
Glenmore Park's 1990s and early 2000s driveways are now in the decision zone. Some are surface-worn but structurally intact - sitting flat, expansion joints uncompromised, no visible movement. Others have started to crack through their full depth as reactive clay movement and age combine to undermine the sub-base.
The honest assessment starts with the slab. A surface-worn driveway that sits flat and stable is a genuine resurfacing candidate and can be extended for another 10 to 15 years at a fraction of the replacement cost. A driveway that has moved, cracked through its full depth, or shows edge failure needs to come out - resurfacing it is money spent on a failing foundation.
KMA inspects the slab before recommending anything. Read more about resurfacing versus replacement to understand what the assessment involves.
Sloped blocks in Glenmore Park - particularly in the elevated portions backing toward the escarpment - require concrete work that is specified differently from flat-block pours. The differences are practical and significant.
A driveway on a gradient needs crossfall designed to move water across the surface and away from the building, not down the fall line toward the garage. It needs a drainage channel at the base of the slope where water collects. The surface finish needs to provide traction on the grade - a smooth finish that is safe on a flat block becomes a liability on a steep approach.
KMA has been pouring driveways on sloped western Sydney blocks for 26 years, including Penrith's escarpment fringe. We cover the specifics in our guide to concrete driveways on a slope. If your Glenmore Park block has gradient, read that before you get any quotes - it will help you ask the right questions.
Penrith City Council requires a Section 138 Roads Act approval for all new vehicle crossovers in Glenmore Park. KMA handles this as part of the job.
Stages adjacent to Glenmore Park's southern and western fringe are still releasing new lots. New house slabs on these releases sit on Bringelly shale-derived soils and reactive clay profiles that require site-specific specification - the slab type, sub-base and reinforcement must reflect the structural engineer's specification for that block, not a generic rate applied across the estate.
KMA works directly with your builder and certifier to ensure the slab is ready for frame on schedule. Every residential pour is completed to Australian Standards AS2870 and AS3600. Learn more about our house slab and driveway services.
